So let’s talk…

Wow, it’s hard to believe that 2019 is damn near over. It’s now August and we only have FOUR months left in the year, so if you’re anything like me you’re evaluating the year trying to figure out if you’re where you want to be for the year or not. I’m very anal about meeting the goals I’ve set for myself so here we are. In April or May I set myself up a vision board to try and map out the end of the year, I know I started late but whatever.

Let’s begin with my career. For the year I wanted to have a total of 50 books out by December. Currently, I have 34 books out and I’m working on two books right now, so at the end of the month, I’ll have 36. If we do quick math by December even with two books a month I won’t hit my 50 book mark, which honestly is fine being that I made this goal halfway through the year. That doesn’t mean I completely failed, however. I had set a goal to hit #1 by the end of the year and in June that happened. My first romance book (which was on the list too) hit number one and even hung around for a while. I set a goal to release a self-published book, which I did. So even though I didn’t do 50 books, 10 being romance I did hit some high points with my goals when it came to my career.

So what’s next? My goal is to put out a 100k standalone, hit number 1 in Urban, and build my romance audience. I also want to start working on a mystery novel but that’s going to be later next year. When it comes to my writing I feel like I’m in a good place where I don’t have to complain. After a long time of wanting to give up, I’m starting to believe in myself and writing again.

Next, my blogging…my goal by the end of the year or beginning of next year is to start making money on my blogs. I want to grow and build my audience to eventually become an influencer or social media marketer. I want to start sponsoring and promoting products and make money from the companies. Basically, I want to build my name up so people follow me and listen to me. Recently to get to this point I started a separate Instagram for my blog @thatsalltay_x3, and a Twitter @thatsalltay. I’ve started promoting products and connecting with other bloggers as well. My next step is to find a blog or someone looking for social media content writer to work under or intern for, to build my credentials. One thing I was always told growing up is that I would be good with journalism or something in that field so, well here I am, building and being patient. My goal by the end of 2020 is to have a decent following and income when it comes to my blog and influencing.

Last is to get me together which was FIRST on my goal list, actually. Self Care has become a huge thing for me this year. I didn’t realize how much I was ignoring it until I felt myself going to a place where I wasn’t happy with anything in my life and couldn’t escape it. A lot of people don’t know but I went through a small spell of depression the beginning of the year and honestly, it was one of the toughest times of my life but I pushed through it. One thing I did to help myself was found a therapist. Now I know a lot of times we look down on any kind of consoling or therapy but I promise you it works! I only did a few sessions to try it out but I loved it. It’s easier to talk to someone that’s not connected to you or your issues, to get the input of someone on the outside. I also started doing some dates with myself like going to the movies, going and reading at the park, shopping, whatever, I just made it me-time. I started a prayer journal and started journaling daily, and last I started stretching daily to release tension from my body. Those small things have improved my life tremendously. Continuing my self-care is HUGE for me and something I plan on continuing.

Now, of course, those three things aren’t the only thing I plan on improving when it comes to the rest of the year, I’m currently in the process of fixing my credit and my getting my finances together. I want to start another business and have it up and running by next summer (details coming soon). My goal is to have three SOLID incomes by summer 2020, and also I want to continue traveling. Personally, I feel like my mind is always running and always planning things for me and I plan to accomplish them all.

Have you planned out the rest of your year? What are some goals you have for the rest of the year or even the beginning of 2020? Let’s talk in the comments!

  1. Love this! Your blogging goals are very similar to mine. It takes time and hard work, but it keeps improving. Congratulations on your #1 book! That’s awesome!

  2. Great goals! I’m taking notes, sis! I’ve built my following all over social media, so I gotta get this blogging thing down! I’m just starting. Congrats and good luck!

    1. That’s great! Since you’ve built up your social media following I’m sure it won’t take long for you to build your blog up! Good luck!

  3. I am doing the same thing. I slacked a couple of months but I did make a vision board to remind me why I doing what I am doing. I need to get more viewers to my blog, I have built up my following on social media, but nothing seems to be catching on at my blog. We are in August now and I think I need really like the fire under my tookus. Very good post and you inspired me!

    1. Just keep promoting and doing ads! Just blogger support groups, that what I did! Also get business cards to hand out with your blog on it, it helps a lot! Good luck!

    1. Yes, it’s a little easier than trying to be consistent with a blog because you don’t have to think of concepts. With a book as long as you know your story you can write it! Try planning out your blogs for the week or month, it makes it a little easier.

  4. HOW are we already in the second half of 2019! And that’s a TON of books! My goal is one a month! And to practice french more!

    1. Honesty my inspiration comes from a lot of things, life, songs, things I see on TV, the news. It just depends, sometimes believe it or not I dream of storylines lol it’s really crazy! My books are normally 55-65k but I’m aiming to make them longer. They are actual novels, I talk too much for short stories lol.

  5. I love that you’re setting goals for yourself! Good luck, and I hope that you do build your audience and start making money from blogging as well. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I even counted the months left before 2020, I didn’t even realize it in the first place before reading this. Good luck in reaching your goals.:)

  7. Time really flies and honestly I just want it to slow down. Like, whoooa there! I own a business and my goal would be to get more clients this year so I’d be more busy/productive next year. My business isn’t actually online so it’s a bit challenging (it’s a printing service company). I love that you’re out there pursuing your goals and I wish you the best of luck!
